This is probably a stupid question but are you using the 120 or 240 version of these, Packard C230B 2 Pole 30 Amp Contactors? I ask due to my ignorance and thought that being they were controlling 240 heating elements they needed to be 240. I’m really thinking about doing this and want to make sure I get the right parts.

Hi Tom,

You’ll need 2 pole 30 amp contactors and the coil needs to be 120V. A contactor like this can switch up to 600V, so no problem there, but the coil needs to be 120V and not 240V. If you look a the wiring diagram you’ll see that a 120V switch / circuit is connected to the coil.

Anything you need, just let me know. I’m glad to help where I can!
